Johnny’s Cage
Though every day more feeble,
he still could shake the cage.
Through a daughter’s eyes he read the Book,
his own made weak by age.
Confined now to a wheelchair,
he had a guarantee…
From the One who made the lame walk
and caused the blind to see.
He left with just a whisper
instead of with a roar.
But when he reached the other side,
he crashed through Heaven’s door.
Now he runs upon the rainbow,
and all his chains are gone.
He can see the farthest galaxy
and dance beyond the dawn.
As he joined the new creation,
he let his praises soar.
Though broken down in this world,
he crashed through Heaven’s door.
